"I see printmaking as a vibrant, living artistic language, capable of engaging with the present and adapting to new times with all its strength. My desire is to explore new ways of experiencing this art form, while preserving its essence and opening it up to contemporary possibilities."

 Yasamin Marzooghfarhani

What is La Talpa?

La Talpa (Italian for 'The Mole') is a meeting space for those who create art and wish to explore new ways of expression, for those who want to learn how to create their own, and for art lovers who want to experience it and take home works that represent the development of a thought. Here, art pieces are born and evolve like mole pups, transforming into unique and unrepeatable creations.

You'll find me at Via Misa 3/A, far from the modern hustle and bustle, in a peaceful green corner of Bologna, where I’ve crafted a welcoming space with my own hands, ready to inspire you and offer unforgettable experiences.

Who I Am

Origins:
Tehran, 1991.
I come from Tehran, 1991. I grew up surrounded by cultures, colours, aromas and corners of the world that shaped everything I am — my Persian roots are woven into everything I create.

High School Education:
Literature and Humanities, Isfahan.
During my studies I discovered my passions: philosophy and logic, which intertwine thought and reason, and literature, which dances between words and worlds. Certain teachings became a key to opening new doors of knowledge, guiding me toward what truly moves me.

University Education:
English Language and Literature, University of Kashan.
This was the period when I wove my love for theatrical literature, letting myself be carried by the waves of literary works. The teaching methodology was centred on critical analysis and the stimulation of creativity through reinterpreting works and bringing them to the stage.

Bachelor of Arts:
Printmaking and Etching Techniques, Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Graduated with honors (110/110 cum laude).
During my first years in Italy I acquired fundamental principles that still guide my practice today. Deepening the tradition of engraving and exploring various techniques and materials taught me the importance of theory before action. In the workshop of paper and natural pigments, I discovered and refined my passion for natural elements, learning that patience and dedication in the artistic process carry an immeasurable value.

Master of Arts:
Printmaking and Etching Techniques, Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Graduated with honors (110/110 cum laude and First class honours).
This chapter has been a continuous process of exploring, experimenting and growing. Its greatest gift was a deep attention to the processes of creation — honouring every phase, including what is usually discarded. I learned to inhabit the creative process in its entirety, from conception to the presentation of the work in the real world, completing my studies with a thesis on biodegradable materials and their application in printmaking.

Awards:
I received two scholarships at the Scuola Internazionale Il Bisonte in Florence, for the advanced course in engraving and contemporary languages of printmaking.

Artistic Expression:
I have exhibited my work in numerous national and international exhibitions, including Artefiera Bologna, the National Arts Prize of Sassari, the International Artists' Book Fair of Udine, the travelling exhibitions of "Il libro ha radici e semi" and the Giuseppe Maestri Engraving Biennial of Bagnacavallo.

Living with disability:

I live with multiple sclerosis and several other conditions, with a 100% disability assessment. It is part of who I am, and part of my work. The unpredictability of my body has taught me to constantly reinvent myself: when my sight blurs, touch becomes my guide. When walking or thinking clearly becomes difficult, I shift my creative approach. I have learned that within limitations there is a transformative power — and this awareness has entered the way I make art, teach and work with people.

Current Project:
La Talpa.
It is more than an Art laboratory; it's a dream come to life.
